As VW is buying back that Touareg, for more than I paid for it=BONUS!, I got this 2016 Cayenne Diesel to replace it. The Cayenne is nothing short of incredible:

The Touareg TDI was fantastic, but the Cayenne is phenomenal. Tows every bit as good as the Touareg but everything about it is just so much better.

That just doesn't seem right! Pulling a boat with a Porsche?

I have the VW Touareg TDI version, rated for 7700 lbs. It tows mine like it was nothing, very stable on the road.

I just got a new 2017 Honda Pilot EX. I tow a 1500lb rig. I am selling my 2001 Sequoia. I got rid of my GradyWhite 209 so I don't need the V8 Sequoia anymore. Pilot does well, even at the ramps. And gets 28mpg on the highway when not towing!

Old one on right new one on left. And solo shot of new truck. The 1500 pulled fine but didn't stop it very well. 1998 with rear drum brakes. The new 2500....had to keep checking mirrors to make sure it was still back there! And hooking up with the backup camera? Cheating it's so easy. Only thing left is to chose which kid doesn't go to college......

The 98 with small rear end did/does not have good brakes. A few came with a larger rear end and had the same size brakes as a 2500, these were/are good.
