I am looking to replace the Prop on my fathers boat, he says he can't get over 4800 RPM right now with the current prop (I have to go get the size, but its a random one he picked up at west marine years ago) He does a lot of shallow water "exploring- hitting the bottom" so he would need an aluminum prop. Its a 1988 175extg engine, and a mako 230 walkaround that usually has 2 people on it and full tank of gas, he just wants overall performance. Would I want something around a 15.25x15 or 14.25 X 17?

Looking back at emails, guy's with 250 HP were running low 40's. 42-44 MPH at wide open.
I'd expect about 36 MPH with a 175.
If you go aluminum, I'd go 15 pitch, with a 175 Carb Yamaha, 1.86 gear ratio and 4500-5500 RPM range.
stick with yamaha brand aluminum. You can probably get it from SIM or Parker Yacht on here.
