Andy was raised in the Chicago area and moved to Washington Island, WI soon after graduating from Wyoming Tech in 1984 with a auto-collision/re-finisher degree. During that period of time his family purchased Shipyard Island Marina on Washington Island where his marine career started in 1985. Over that period of time the family owned company expanded in several areas including heated boat storage, boat and engine service, hull refinishing, boat slips and new/used boat and engine sales. During one particular boat sale in 2004, a customer had mentioned a boating forum site that shared information from boat owner to boat owner. Andy started posting on these sites to offer assistance which led into helping owners properly repair their Yamaha engines, which lead into offering parts sales(a totally unintended consequence). Today SIM ships parts all over the USA and world through their websites www.simyamaha.com, www.veradoclubparts.com and www.permatrims.com

Andy is a certified Yamaha Master Technician and is presently working towards the same with Mercury Outboards.

SIM (Shipyard Island Marina) is a authorized full line 5 star Yamaha dealer for Yamaha Outboards and Power Equipment. SIM is also the USA distributor for Permatrim Foils which are imported from New Zealand. SIM is also a authorized dealer for Mercury Outboards and Sterndrives and Volvo Penta engines.

The motor on my boat came from SIM. Now all my repair and maintenance parts come from there too. Great no BS service.

Hi Andy, just figured out where you went! Guess I haven't been needing any Yamaha parts or support yet! But of course, haven't yet launched yet for the season! Hopefully in a couple of weeks if work permits!

Glad to see you here Andy. You helped me out quiet a bit when I first bought my boat back in 2010. You gave me a lot of good information on THT.. Glad I found this site. I was/am macabear on THT.. I like THT, but I have grown a little wary of the "atmosphere" at times.

Andy, thanks for sharing your background. That resume is quite impressive.
I bought all my maintenance parts for my stolen engines from you.
For anyone needing (anything) Yamaha, SIM is a one stop shop and their customer service is outstanding.

Just wanted to thank you for your quick response to a question I had about the orientation of an oil seal earlier today. Your company should be thankful for an employee who guarantees repeat customers.
