  • Repower I have a 2002 23 Pro-line WA

The boat us really 24.5 with an 8.6 beam

I had a 2002 225 EFI merc on it when the shop blew the engine (long Story).

I was thinking of getting an early etec 300 engine on the boat . just wondering if the 300 is too big for that boat HP/Weight? Any repowers of the Proline Donzi hull out there & what did you repower with?

What is the boat rated for HP wise?
Weight wise It probably had twins or could have twins?
A 300 ETEC would be a risk, I would think.
300 ho Merc, Yamaha Zuke would fill the bill.

Who is available to work on it?

If you have a qualified ETEC mechanic available...I'd go for it....

Perfect hp for a 23... My opinion.... only

      Info on the ETEC???

it was rated for twin 150's in 2002 & a merc 250 4-stroke so 300 with twins. why would the 300 etec be a risk brand or hp

I agree, if etec was a decent marketable product they would still be building them.

you may be right but marketing can kill a good product like Beta against VHS & Amiga vs Apple

                Who?
Or maybe marketing can't market a product.
                Never even heard of Amiga.

I would go with a verado or pro xs. 250-300 hp range if the transom is rated for it

Suzuki DF250 swinging that larger 16" diameter wheel ... go generate some thrust baby!
Life is too short for an ugly boat!
