Wonder who gets to clean all the droppings off when it's time for maintenance. The 20 mile buoy out of Port Canaveral is covered in bird crap...and a ton of lures and fishing line

There were dozens or more birds as I was approaching, then they flew, my son thinks it's a monitoring station, I tend to agree.

Dang. There you go. Now he can boat where water is optional. Lol
Looks like a Combee hull, set up for an aircraft engine. Airboating will let you explore and enjoy the other side of Florida boating. No crowds, no waves or boat wakes, no Marine Patrol or Coast Guard. No Seatow or BoatUS either. We rescue our own. No airboater left behind.
What area will y’all be riding?

              Father, Son project, yeehaw!

My son will start grinding with flap disc on bottom, then will glass some 1708 with polyester for additional strength and wear layer.

It will run a 2.68 gear reduction with SBC.

              More, later.

Is your son on Southern Airboat forum. It’s a good place for info and making friends, like this one. Good folks on there. Been on there since 2007. My handle is Glades Cat.

Airboat like seacat posted earlier, it will not be a reinvention, just building on quote, sound engineering.

Southern airboating, been reading up on it,
                Thanks.

That boat will be a beast with a SBC and the 2.68 reduction gearbox. Point and go. No water needed. If he is going to run dry or cross levees and roads, put poly on the bottom. Otherwise, Steelflex, frog spit or any other of the epoxy slick coatings will be fine.

                That’s a cool father-son project!!

I’ve always been fascinated by those things. They make my “skinny water” boat look like a joke in that regard.

Some day I’m gonna find a way to get a ride on one. There’s actually a couple I used to see running the river here.

Yes they are great fun. A few years ago I was in Florida and went on an airboat tour. It was very interesting and enjoyable but the best part was the operator asked if anyone wanted to drive the boat. Of course I said yes and did drive it. Oh yeah it was fun and I would love to have one. If I ever come across one in good shape for a reasonable price. I just may have to get it...Charlie
