  • Winter Storage time up north

Putting boats into storage and shrink wrapping on a daily basis. It seemed like Sept 21 came and chilly weather came right along with it; 37 here in northern Ohio last night--hoping for a nice Indian summer soon---for those of you who are baseball fans we will now call it a "Guardian" summer going forward so as not to upset those with tribal backgrounds

We are hauling and winterizing too! This is my favorite time of year. Leaf's are changing, very busy, but the time crunch work isn't like it is in the spring launches. As long as we get it done before it snows, all is good. lol.

        Best time of year!

Time to start actually using the boat.

I enjoy this time of year as well; great fishing for walleye and perch with not many boats on the lake and the fish do come to life once the water cools a bit.

We've been winterizing for 2 weeks now.
            the race is on.
            dockage contracts are ending.
we take in 80 boats oct 1, 80 more oct 15, and probably 60 more over the road boats.

Boat biz up north is definitely different than florida.
locally, beach people have a 4 to 5 month season.
recreational fisherman 5 to 6 months
              die hards 8 months

Yep, and you have super hot, pretty hot and always humid---you can have your summers down there but I kind of like the winters!

I was at LBI New Jersey for a wedding a couple of weeks ago. E eryone was walking around in shorts and tank tops (not at the way over done Italian catholic wedding). I was wandering around in jeans and a long sleeve t shirt. Still froze my ass off. People were going down to the beach and asking me to join them. I politely declined.

Damn if I know how you boys do it up north. I would be gone so fast it would make your head spin.

Just got back from taking my morning walk, 46 degrees. Yesterday we played golf in 76 degree weather. Bit of a roller coaster temp wise in Oct and Nov

This morning I picked up a customers 37 Formula for storage by water at his house. Holy cow was it a flipping cold ride back! Ducking behind the windshield doesn't help. Sea water temp was 55 at his house and the air temp was low 40's and blowing out of the north about 20. To much to quick!

It's all a matter of getting used to things. LBI was my hangout as a kid, boated there all the time. Went up to Mass to attend DDU one winter and saw everyone in shorts and sandals walking around getting iced coffee, Not happening in NJ.
