  • Installing garmin auto pilot

Has anybody installed a garmin autopilot? On my Everglades I have twin Yamaha motors but the steering is U-Flex with mercury verado power steering. I am really considering installing the autopilot myself and I want to gather as much info as possible. Such as where to mount the pump and handling the connection to the power steering pump. I have done some reattach already but it seems like the kit Garmin sells to connect the autopilot to the power steering from mercury is either missing parts or doesn't really work that great. Thoughts Please.

    SeaStar has a good diagram.
    Maybe UFlex does also?
That Mercury Helm and Power assist is different, do some research on that.

waiting for Everglades to get back to me. Seems like a simple install just curious where is the best place to install the pump. Install it close to the helm or closer to the engines.

More importantly, where in relation to position of the Power Assist Pump.
This is SeaStars Instructions. (Your application MAY differ).

I believe the answer is closer to the engines. It would make sense to have shorter hydraulic lines so there would be no pressure loss.

          Thanks for diagram Ole.
