VesselView Link to HDS Gen3

On my new Merc 4 Stroke 150 I want to connect it to my HDS Gen3. I do not have Smartcraft gauges. I have an existing. NMEA 2000 network. Would the Mercury Vessel view Link Single Engine Kit 8M0110639 be the part I need? Would I need anything else?

No help at all, being the cheapskate that I am, I paid full price for the SC1000 tach as my FF-GPS is a hundred dollars value new.
Love the SC 1000, but the engine information linked to your MFD would be better from a viewing perspective.

I may have a VesselView Link and VesselView 502 come available soon. I just need to get the Mercury SmartCraft Connect module set up for my Garmin MFD's first, but it requires a Merc dealer with the magic pass codes to enable it.

It has been a slow process getting to point being able to answer this question. I installed a Vessel View Link module last weekend. Plugged in my HDS7 Gen 3 unit and turned it on. After turning the engine key on a few moments elapsed and the HDS recognized the motor and started the setup process. I now can read Merc data on my HDS.

I love the New Mercury. I have put very, very little hours on it. I had a new soft t-top with rocket launchers, the motor and a new cover all done nearly one after another. Then dropped it off to have the wiring redone - new dash switches and stuff. My request was to update the wiring so it can run another 10 years without needing an major refresh.

“Covid” and “New Deal” spending interfered with everything. But the wiring was the worst. The job was started and then never finished. I eventually pulled the boat away and started that work on my own. I just wasn’t going to splash without having the wiring squared back away. I hope to have the wiring safe this weekend. So I have gotten very little use out of the motor. It was challenging to sort what was done on the wiring and what was still needed. For Example: Wiring switches is not my strong point. It took me forever to get the anchor and running lights working properly on a three way switch.

I have been using ancor marine wire, ancor terminals, heat shrink tubing and reading everything I could to do do it properly.

I did all of those changes hoping to be have the boat ready to go upon my retirement.
