I LOVE flintlocks and even shoot the earlier BP ignition types going back to circa 1360 ... the 1st 'hand gonnes'! Plenty of posts on here under the title of 'Old Guns ... "

Give me a yell if you are new to firelocks and need a hand ...

    • I have the same one except in a cap fire version. Put a little extra powder in and it will dislocated your shoulder. Better make sure your first shot is a good one, you won't get a second.

          :-))))

      • We had some fun yesterday shooting sporting clays. Had a number of folks in town for my grandson’s first birthday and five of us “boys” had some fun the day after his party.
Friend of mine owns Rocky Creek Sporting Clays so we headed to Richburg, SC. Place was packed and there’s some folks there that are serious about the sport. Tons of youth 👍
We shot the Creek Course, which is the easiest and in a beautiful setting adjacent to Rocky Creek. There are 14 stands on the course with a total of 100 shots per shooter. Each stand is a unique target presentation with differences in angle, elevation, speed, etc., not only from stand to stand, but different flight patterns by the two clay machines at each stand. A favorite is the “rabbit” stand that rolls the clay on its edge at speed, simulating hunting rabbits.
We rented a couple of really nice over/under shotguns, both Beretta’s, one 32” and the other 30”. I preferred the longer barrel gun and shot better with it.
Previous times I’ve shot clays I really sucked at it (30’s score) but yesterday hit more than missed with a 56. We all had a blast and talked about making it an annual event, eventually taking the grandson when he’s old enough.

That’s always fun, except for your sore shoulder next day if shooting a 12 gauge.
Still have a Remington 1100 with a 28” modified barrel from my bird hunting days.
Doubt I could hit the broad side of a barn nowadays.
Have gotten pretty good with a couple of 38 revolvers for shooting snakes and other reptiles
Usually leave the Glocks at home because don’t need a semi auto having an inadvertent jamb

      • I had it. And let it go. One shot was a flyer one I pulled. That's all it takes.

Life is like that. Just when you think it is dialed in, all the wheels fall off.

I could have done better, the "Politics and comradery" got me down.
But, it was "sporty" and I placed, so there is that.
