A little range Boxing Day practice.

I took my new rifle to Okeechobee just to break in the barrel , ended up shooting 40 rounds through it , man do I like shooting this gun .
Shot at 100 yards .

I had four rounds left so I aimed at the red dot .

Went out today , shot at 100 yards first , two targets .

T Then moved out to 200 yards Shot 60 bullets , so I must've skipped two targets because I had two left over , this group is at 200 yards . Really liking this gun .

The ladies always have a steady eye and soft trigger. My friends wife who has never shot a rifle before beat two police marksman first time up, then again, and again.

My Gun
Today I swung my front door wide open and placed my Remington 30.06
right in the doorway. I left 6 cartridges beside it, then left it alone and
went about my business.

While I was gone, the mailman delivered my mail, the neighbor boy
across the street mowed the yard, a girl walked her dog down the street, and
quite a few cars stopped at the stop sign near the front of my house.

After about an hour, I checked on the gun. It was still sitting there,
right where I had left it. It hadn't moved itself outside. It certainly
hadn't killed anyone, even with the numerous opportunities it had presented
to do so.

In fact, it hadn't even loaded itself. Well you can imagine my
surprise, with all the hype by the Left and the Media about how dangerous
guns are and how they kill people.

Either the media is wrong or I'm in possession of the laziest gun in
the world.

The United States is 3rd in Murders throughout the World. But if you
take out just 4 cities: Chicago, Detroit, Washington, DC and New Orleans,
the United States is 4th from the "bottom", in the entire world, for murders.

These 4 Cities also have the toughest Gun Control Laws in the U.S.
ALL 4 of these cities are controlled by Democrats.

It would be absurd to draw any conclusions from this data - right?

Well, I'm off to check on my spoons. I hear they're making people fat.

Friday started off bad.
Sat, day of match was cool. 40's no wind.
I was squadded with pretty much all new shooters in a match. Rookies. I was the only one who shot more than two matches. That was a distraction.
We got most of the match done with no rain. Started to drizzle on last two stages. 1:00pm ish.
With the rookies was tough, watching them from making mistakes having the gun go off. Reading stage briefs. Spotting. Keeping score. I lost some shots being distracted.
I finished with 55 hits. 16 out of 35 shooters. Top in my squad.
Good day and great experience.

No I shot the Altus 6.5cm, and it was shooting better, felt really confident when I checked my MV.
I cleaned that thing for 2hrs each day for three days beforehand, and it's still not clean. Carbon buildup is real.
I am cleaning it again all this week, I am working on it real hard, even using Yamaha Y.I.E.C, the carbon is a Biach.
Weather was almost perfect, cool temp and no wind. Cooler is better, keeps barrel cool.
Regular weather doesn't affect MV out of the barrel, much, but, after that, you betcha.
I took a lesson on position and gun control last week, and that helped ALOT, and I mean alot.
If I hadn't had to help the other guys, I probably would have done better, and I made some bad choices.
They have what is called a "True" KYL stage.
And, it's double or nothing, sudden death.
You have 10 shots at 5 targets, large to small, two shoots each target. I hit the first two targets, for four shots, and the third target for one shot, and then, I missed, got a big fat "0".
If I had quit at the 5 I had, I would had five.
I will remember that for the next time.
I have a match at JTAC this weekend, so we shall see if it was a fluke or real.

Try J&B Bore Cleaning compound ... cleans bores out FAST! And note sometimes you need to alternate merhods - carbon vs copper - as if in there in layers, that's the worst.

What takes the copper out?

Mostly in the "landing", right after where the projectile exits the cartridge for about 3-4".
I have always had issue's "steadying" the gun either in a kneeling position or off a barricade or tank traps. I used to use a tripod for rear support, but that is cumbersome and you loose valuable time.
Learned how to use my left hand to steady the front part and when kneeling my right knee to steady the aft part.
My scope used to jump around, much steadier now.
Still need more practice. I will do that with my .22 at a 2" target at 100yards.

It smells? Funny ... I don't smell it at all ... or if I did - never noticed it - and I just used it last night, just a big 'meh' here on smelliness ...
