One thing to keep in mind with a shotgun, everyone you love better be on your side of the gun.

      Who is the H&K pro?
I'm looking at a VP 40 and an HK 45.
      After that I get lost.
Don't want an USP, don't know what the P2000 or P30 variants are.

Yep.. They don't call them splatter guns for nothing.. Things tend to get hit, intentionally and not.

In home defense don't go with smaller calibers. At short range they don't spread as much as you think and they lose their punch fairly quick. Go to a pump style short barrel pistol grip 12 gauge.

Being a pump it is much less likely to jam and it retains 100% of the power, where as an semi auto is easier to jam and loses some of its punch in the reload process.
Short with a pistol grip will allow you to shoot in much tighter quarters and make it harder for someone to wrestle it away from you.
12 Gauge with OO Buck will go through an interior wall in the event they are using it as cover.

I personally have OO loaded as the first 2 shots then a slug and staggered after that. I figure if I need anything past the first 2 shots (which will go very quickly) I better have something really large to back it up.

I have unfortunately been in a few situations and can assure you there is no such thing as to much gun or to many rounds. My old 9mm carried 15 rounds and that clip emptied faster than I ever imagined it would. When adrenalin takes over and the decision to shoot has been made, an empty gun happens before you know it.

12g is just too big to handle.

Someone is missing the bote around here.
Been to three (3) different Gun shops/ranges over the weekend, they ALL sucked.
                            Customer service was horrible.
One was just borderline psychotic, the other was "no time, rude, and condescending", the last was non existent.
If you have someone interested in a gun, and the other not, there is nothing for them to do, at least the mall gives you a place to sit.
And gawd forbid you want to buy something with help.

Nice! But I have to ask, did you look for an equivalent aftermarket one? I did a quick internet search and found at least 6 that looked the same for almost half the price!
