We have a lithium 8d for the A/C unit on our Axopar, so far so good. It will be interesting to follow the commercialization of this solid state technology. It all takes time ... but there is certainly big money at the end of the rainbow.

Any idea how long you can run the A/C on that battery?

Quoted as 6-8 hrs typical without the engines running.

Me too. I haven't exercised it yet as we don't sit too long with engines off. The A/C unit itself is very efficient, supposedly 25-30A so those calcs do make some sense on paper.

Most likely the biggest impact new battery technology will have is for electric cars and consumer electronics such as cell phones and such. Therefore we can expect to see this new technology come to market first in those products. Now think of the spin offs of this technology that can be applied to boats. House banks and trolling motor banks that are so much smaller and lighter come to mind. It will be exiting to see what will come to market in the near future...Charlie

                        Occasionally. :-))))) Stealth mode,
However, the only battery I buy is Duracell, and I have noted that they break/dissolve/explode.
So, the TOS thread did peak my interest, might be time to switch manufacturers.

What is the potential for fire/explosion regarding these newer batteries? Are they safe?

From what I have seen it is one of the claims that they are not a fire hazard like the lithium ion batteries are. But who knows for sure? I guess once they are actually on the market and tested in real world situations we will know...Charlie
