I don’t see how this will ever fly nationwide.
In places where sticky fingers prevail, maybe yes, but there is a very large percentage of population who have zero plastic of any kind except maybe an EBT card

It's just the way the world is going, less "real" people to serve/help you, just a card to pay for anything, makes it quicker, no chance of staff taking a "tip" by scamming a few dollars, less wages to pay! I can see the day (very soon) that fast food outlet chains that operate a drive through setup, will be an order online, drive to a dispenser type window/machine and your precooked burger/drink/fries will just appear, without a human in sight.

Can only hope they lose enough money to force them back to legal tender.

I assumed it was illegal to not take CASH.

Quite a few Bahamian marinas are cashless. It took someone too long to wash the Covid off the cash

Lots of places are "card only" most public transport here and lots of other shops....I wonder if they can ask for identification if you pay cash, being such a suspicious transaction with a handful of money?

Our US Dollars are printed with something about ‘legal tender’.

However the internet says: “Legal Tender refers to all U.S. coins and currency that issued by the government. U.S. Cash dollars are also a valid form of legal tender. Nonetheless, federal statutes do not require a seller to accept cash as a form of legal tender for payment of goods or services that were rendered.“

Correct. As long as they accept other "reasonable and easily tendered" forms of payment.

Lodging bidness is mostly plastic. Why? There's no way to check if a room has been rented or not. Night clerk can rent a couple rooms a night for cash, and no one knows. Well, housekeeping knows, but for a few bucks cash they know nothing...
