Boating is VERY quickly becoming a rich "persons" game. The days of "just having a boat" are gone. To get a decent quality boat (not top tier, decent) 25 foot and above, you are looking at $6000 a foot.. That is insane..

I do.. I remember when Contender was an idea talked about on the SKA trail... Also Cape Horn.. It's incredible what it cost to own a boat this day and age.

Well we bashed the crap out of affordable boats… we had all sorts of bells and gizmos added to basic CC fishing boats - tons of buttons and crap that in no way helps catch fish…

People demanded all this crazy stuff and the boat companies were happy to oblige.

And this drove the prices of the bare bones boats up to crazy levels. A Parker is nothing more than a bare bones skiff - and people pay asinine prices for them.


about 1/2 of my fishing time is spent on a mint condition 2001 Trophy. Brand new, boat motor and trailer was 20k for a 21 walk around. Listen to message boards and that boat was a complete POS that would somehow self destruct- but it’s actually a great boat.

Same as a work truck vs a limited luxury truck. My 37k 2500 ram tradesman can easily by 80k with just buttons and knobs added.
