I need one of those. Right now I have 2 containers somewhere on the water and 6 more setting on the dock in Vietnam. It used to cost me $6k to $8 k to get it shipped and delivered. Now I am paying $16k and even that doesn't get me to the top of the list to get loaded.

Hey, when you have forced slave labor and treat even the ones you say are good like crap, you can somehow afford to compete and overwhelm everyone else. There's one solution, sink their economy buy not doing business with any communist or socialist state.

Some company should try something crazy like bringing their manufacturing back to, I dunno, the USA?

                    ^^Standing ovation^^

However under the current administration, I'd be surprised if that happens.

Yes and more yes. But......... Just about every "American" company buys their supplies/inventory from China. They like money too much.. Do you think that a majority of business owners will be willing to do with less? Make less money? A lot less money to sell "American made"? Will American workers be willing to temporarily take a lower wage to get back in the game? Yeah, I don't think so either..

The cost difference in "American made" vs Chinese look-a-like is astronomical. Yeah, you may find a few things here and there that are "close" in price, but for the most part, nope. The biggest issue we are facing right now is in pharmaceuticals. Trump was forcing these companies to bring antibiotic production back to America. Of course, the days of $4 generic medicine at Walmart would be over, but that's okay. Biden stopped it. I was talking to one of my doctors the other day and he asked me: "Do you know how many new antibiotics are in the pipeline"? I asked, "How many"? He just held up his hand and made the ZERO sign. He then went on to talk about all the drug resistant bugs out there and there are NO new antibiotics being even studied. Why? China. They have CRUSHED all the competition. Can't get raw materials needed either. It's all being sucked up by India and China.

I wish it were as easy as saying "Buy American".

                        So interesting item.
the bigwigs meeting right now across the globe

EVERYONE is on the same page that something needs to be done about China (remember trump was repeatedly bashed about China). NATO is tightening their alliances. 30 democracys are on board.
they are the biggest threat (and remember they are a brutal communist regime)
and yet Xiden calls them a “challenge”. If I recall Xiden was behind (cough), I mean aware of the plan to introduce American mayors and governors to Chinese officials so the Chinese could buy U.S. infrastructure.
                        but I digress.

so the whole world knows this threat, yet we still “allow”
the Home Depot’s, etc to keep utilizing a regime that (make no bones about this) wants to be THE primary global player. This is evident by their stealing of technology, their massive naval buildup and acquiring ownership of a large % of available raw materials

so why the fuck do we not end the fricking “American” owned manufacturing in that place?

                        we should demand change
                        I don’t get it.

                        rant over

If you want access to the domestic market in China, you have to manufacture it there. Or, you pay a yuge import tariff that makes your product too costly. You also have requirements to employ their nationals.
Once you set up your operations, your intellectual property security vanishes.
We helped a little company, Johnson & Johnson, with manufacturing systems destined for China. We secured the machine controls so programs couldn't be copied nor downloaded. J &J caught operators writing down program code character by character. Millions of characters, one at a time. Took China about 3 years to replicate the process and J & J's business dried up.

As long as those players continue to buy from China, we are foooooooked.

I need to buy a new fridge for our new condo. 2 brand names cheap that I never heard of and, sure enough, they come from China. I told Lowe's that they should disclose along with the appliance name where they are manufactured but I doubt that will ever happen. I'll stick with America made.
