  • And on it goes some more...

Came in my email today, looks like another sporting event not to support or watch, if this is true...

"The U.S. Olympics and Paralympic Committee is allowing
contestants to take a knee during the national anthem and raise
their fist. Athletes can show disrespect for the country that they
represent in front of other nations.
    According to reports:
"The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee will not sanction
athletes for raising their fists or kneeling during the national
anthem at Olympic trials, previewing a contentious policy it expects
to stick to when many of those same athletes head to Tokyo this
    summer...
"With guidance from its recently formed Council on Racial and
Social Justice, the USOPC released a list of dos and don'ts as part
of its document. The list of allowable forms of demonstration
included holding and wearing hats or face masks with phrases such as 'Black Lives Matter ' or
words such as 'equality ' or 'justice.' '

They're going to let them do what they want unless it's something like " All Lives Matter " or " Support the Police "

I'm boycotting the Olympics until each athlete receives a gold medal just for participating. 😁

As far as USA athletes kneeling, if they're that unhappy here, fine. Stay where ever it is they're holding the Olympics and don't come back if you're that unhappy with the USA.

That's a pretty sad state of affairs, we have a kind of similar (but in a smaller scale) shit thing here, at special sporting events, the athletes sing our national anthem, the "indigenous" ones refuse to sing it and make a point of it, nothing pisses me off more, they are happy to take the big money, but show no respect what so ever for the country that lets them earn it.

If that is analogous to the American Indian not singing the national anthem, I can't say I fault them.

I can see what you mean, BUT, history is done, we can't change it and we weren't there hundreds of years ago, all we can do is learn from it, respect it and respect the country you live in (in my opinion)

I think choosing to remain silent is a bit different than the overt act of kneeling, I think in the former case you can still be respectful by simply remaining silent. YMMV
