  • MIBS2020 By the numbers, Outboard engines.

Each year each of the OEM engine manufacturers count engines. They count EVERY engine, loose, on a boat, on land, on water.
This isn't totally accurate as it is going from my memory, and to be honest, that ain't so good.
    Mercury 585 give or take.
    Yamaha 501 give or take.
    Suzuki 127 give or take.
The rest I didn't listen to.
The take away is and this is from last year.
    Mercury picked up some engines.
Yamaha stayed the same with a very slight uptick.
    Suzuki lost a tick.
    And the others , nothing.

Did Mercury dominate the show? It's relative. Did they gain? Yes.
Did Suzuki "take over" from Yamaha? As is stated on TOS. Absolutely not.

Very interesting! Would you say motor prices (F300 for example) are going up or fairly stagnant?

IMHO, however nothing scientific to support it, theYamaha 300’s & 425’s and the Merc 300’s & 450’s both made very good showings on transoms.
I keep waiting on both manufacturers to tune them up in the high 400 & 500hp range.

Have heard both have something very impressive brewing but mums the word as to what.
Know a couple guys who had to sign NDA’s just to attend a clandestine meeting, and I couldn’t even get them to shake their head yes or no as I asked questions. One told me to watch their eyes.....wtf!!!! Does one blink mean yes and two mean no, lol!!

            Everyone's prices have inched up.
There was modest increase's this year 2-3%.
            Suzuki more so.

I saw that post on TOS about the guy saying that there were more Suzukis than the other manufacturers.

Not hard to see that Mercury is ahead.
To say Suzuki is ahead or even close? You can't even stretch that far.

Walking the docks I noticed the Merc invasion. Seemed to be much more than previous years to the point my GF/Fiance/Wife commented, and I didnt think she even noticed things like that.

Does it really mean anything, or is that motors sold during the show? if it's just displayed numbers then it just shows Mercury are advertising more than any other maker, I think!

Does this mean we can actually get a new Merc in a decent time frame now? Or did they all get sent to the show?

We have Merc 200's, 250's and 300's. (Pass the word).
I think most everything is available these days, might be some that there is a slight delay.

Put an order in for a 300 on 2/19 and it was there on 2/25 and they are installing it today!
