BRP Evinrude administers their own extended coverage just like Yamaha, Mercury, etc. - no 3rd party involved like Suzuki

We're mostly a bunch of old farts who don't know any other speed.

I had an extended warranty on a set of Johnson 175s back in the stone age and it saved my bacon I got a powerhead replaced for about 600 bucks.

I would buy the warranty for the peace of mind. Also nice feature to have if you do decide to sell within the warranty period.

I bought the 3 year YES from Andy in May.. My original 3 year warranty was due to run out in June.. My starter went out at the end of May and the Yamaha OEM starter was $600-700.. Now, I realize some people would use an "off-brand", but I am talking about OEM stuff here.. These new motors are too expensive to chance it, IMHO..

                  $600 for a starter!? That's insane.
