I have a problem that needs an electronics wizard's assistance.

Three years ago I set up twin Merc Verado 300's, hooked up to VesselView4, and two Simrad NSS12 evo2 MFDs - all working beautifully BUT when the install was originally done the 4" Simrads were not available, so we put in Garmin GMI20's in to display individual engine data - all worked fine, but I didn't like the horrible 4 little analog dials on each display.
Fast-forward to today, now I have the fresh new Simrad IS42 all digital displays, looking great, doing just what I want BUT, whenever I power them down both IS42's revert to Port Engine - no Stbd data. So it's a daily chore to change 4 data fields to display the Starboard engine.
Any geniuses out there with a solution?

When you changed them out, did you re-config and set them up again, complete with how many engines, etc?
Sounds like it is reverting to a single application.
Is there two or one "clean power" wire from the engines?

        Hi Ole,
In the settings, I've set the IS42's to 'Engines = 2', and 'Engine 1 = Port; Engine 2 = Stbd'
Don't understand what is meant by 'clean power'

Mercury's have a wire for "clean power", hooked directly to the battery, one for each engine to each engine battery, it never gets turn off.
Sounds like the gauge is loosing it's memory.

Gotcha re ‘clean power’ - yes both engines wired direct to individual batteries. All electronics etc wired to third ‘house’ battery.
Lose data settings for Starboard IS42 every time it is powered down.
I remember seeing (somewhere ?) the Mercury port engine referred to as ‘0’ and stbd as ‘1’ - but I can’t find that now .... could this be something to do with it?

Might be something in the Simrad settings?

Today, I've experimented with the 'Instance' settings on the IS42's and changed them from '0' to '0 & 1' and to '1 & 2' all with no difference. The VesselView has the engines as '0' and '1' and the NSS12's plus the IS42's all now have the engines as '0' and '1'. BUT the problems remain. After powering down, and powering back up both IS42's display only the Port engine. Frustrating as all hell.

Spoke to a techie at Navico and he pointed me to an update from March this year; ran that and problem remains, but now the engine temp reads two decimals which are always .00. Frustrating!
