IMO NorthFace is old. I had it as a teenager, And I bought new stuff from them on that preface.
Patagonia is YUPPIE. They do make nice stuff for the "younger" generations.
Methinks NF is trying to get with the "times".
Maybe too much too late.
Older companies need to evolive, everyday or their customer base dies off.

just looked at their website… polyesters, nylons, Lycra and PTFE.
All pretty nasty things, especially PTFE - a forever chemical that accumulates in humans and stays in them, well, forever. Once it’s in the ground or water - it’s forever. PFOA, PFAS, PTFE basically = Teflon. Ask our brothers on the Cape Fear about that stuff…Comment
