Having recently been inferred to as Troll , it got me thinking what a Troll is . Urban dictionary describes it as such-
" Someone who takes pleasure in causing drama by arguing with people without wanting or accepting anyone's response, also known as a "Justin" "
Lifewire says- " In simple terms, trolling is when someone comments or responds to something you post, usually in a confrontational way that is designed to garner a strong, emotional reaction. "
Lifewire then goes on talking about Urban Dictionary and Wikipedia -
"......according to the Urban Dictionary’s top-rated definition for “trolling,” it can be defined as:

"......according to the Urban Dictionary’s top-rated definition for “trolling,” it can be defined as:
"the deliberate act, (by a Troll – noun or adjective), of making random unsolicited and/or controversial comments on various internet forums with the intent to provoke an emotional knee jerk reaction from unsuspecting readers to engage in a fight or argument."
Wikipedia defines it as:
"a person who starts quarrels or upsets people on the Internet to distract and sow discord by posting inflammatory and digressive, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the intent of provoking readers into displaying emotional responses and normalizing tangential discussion, whether for the troll's amusement or a specific gain.”
So, it seems that a common theme ( in the definitions cited ) is one of the so called troll wanting to be confrontational, wanting to quarrel ,wanting to fight or argue.
A person shouldn't be considered a troll if they post a comment hoping to get an honest response ,even though the response may be confrontational or seeking a fight .
If a person would engage in what is commonly called " poking the bear " it wouldn't necessarily mean they were trolling or trying to provoke a fight or an argument . They may just be wanting to get a response and not care whether or not that response starts a fight or an argument. If they don't seem to be interested in the response of the bear it may seem they were just trolling.
If a person is posting on the main topic of a discussion, or a topic that developed in that discussion, it would be hard to define their comment as trolling . A good example of trolling would be participating in a discussion on what magazines are available for a particular weapon, by saying " they should outlaw them all "
I think often it is the person accusing someone of being a troll that are actually trolling themselves , when their accusation is not confirmed by what has been posted or explained by them.
