Went offshore out of Southport NC on Monday, slick calm seas and no wind. Perfect conditions.
"Endangered" ARS were a nuisance and were all over live bottom in 50-100 feet of water. We were forced to push off into deeper water to get away from them, and there were fewer out there thankfully
Caught some of the biggest vermillion snapper I have ever seen, some pushing 22 inches.
Ended up with a bunch of vermillion snapper, close to a bunch of big black sea bass, a couple of almaco jacks, one amberjack a few dozen grunts, one strawberry grouper and a shit ton of sharks

Thanks NOAA, can't get the weather right OR the ARS counts for that matter!

Well. We had a beautiful boat ride on Saturday! 90 miles out to be exact. Headed out to north of the Baltimore canyon. Trolled north to the Wilmington canton. 10 rod spread. Only had one knock down that didnāt stay tight.
Pretty flat seas. Ran 32 mph out and back in. Still about a 3 hour one way trip each way. Had a good time hanging out with a couple of buddies. Only issue is we burned about $900.00 in gas ! Oh boy! Going to make another run in a couple of weeks.95 Stamas 32' CC twin 250 Mercs

Close to a year since the last time I got the boat out fishing, but I finally managed it yesterday.
Went to a pretty little mountain lake for crappy. We did OK, not great but I didn't expect much in the heat.
I had a great day, just because.....
1) I was finally actually getting my boat out. And relaxing.
2) Everything worked and engine ran good despite sitting for a year, old gas, and having to evict several mice from the boat before the trip (hate those lil bastards)
3) Felt justified with the T-top purchase since that tiny bit of shade really does make a noticeable difference on a grossly hot summer day.
Please ignore the lined up beer bottles. My buddy took the pic and did that for his daughter's sake. She's a QC chemist for a micro-brewery.
