            • Went to the beach with my wife. What a beautiful day. Was wishing we had taken the boat out but I almost never go out on weekends. So tired of that weekend boat ramp circus.

So, you are saying there is no room for me up there?
                Getting too crowded down here.

There's plenty of room during the week. Can't guarantee much on the weekends with nice weather, unless you show up before 7:00 am. The ramps open up again around 2:00 pm when the early fishermen start coming back in. I imagine Ft. Lauderdale is just as bad, if not worse.

I used to love getting out when the sun was just coming up but lately I've been more of lazy ass fisherman.

                  • Going Saturday. I set up my 50s with planer bridles so I don't have to hand line in the fish anymore. Fishing should be good ahead of the cold front that is due to come. Winds look ideal as well.

                    • Got skunked for the first time on the new boat. Some undersized flounder and snapper but that was it. The red tide is back with a vengeance. Coming in, we passed through a string of red tide that was over 1.5 miles wide as well as some smaller bands. The water stunk. On the positive side, the boat runs like a scalded cat and gets insane gas mileage - 1.6 mpg at 40 mph and 1.4 at 45.Saw a top end, briefly, of 57 mph (Sailfish 325 with twin Etec 300s, full fuel and water, four anglers.). We be flying.

                      • How long does it usually take red tide to dissipate?

This outbreak is going on 12 months, as I recall. Typically, outbreaks are smaller and last a few months. This has been a very large (SW coast Tampa to Naples) and enduring red tide.
