  • Reports are that red tide is abating and fishing offshore is picking up. Conditions suck right now through next week, though. Hoping to get out ASAP.

Wife and I went down to our local little beach on the Inter-coastal this evening. We found 4 dead fish on the little 2 block beach where we often go sit at wine-thirty.. I think they are called majarrahs? Generally they are considered bait fish but one was cut in half by a shark so not sure that one counts. But I was surprised since we never see dead fish on that beach. Still not sure about going out to the real beaches as they just lifted the red tide alert and my wife has severe allergies.

Things appear to be clearing up. Too rough to fish recently. Hopefully, the fishery will recover.

      • Going Sunday there should be a small window before the winds pick up I hope. Going to target Wahoo.

        • Talked to an offshore guide yesterday. There is good grouper and snapper action 20 miles offshore of Gasparilla Pass. We will head out as soon as sea conditions permit but they don't look good next week right now.

                    • 4 wahoo while joy riding? 3 on cedar plugs?

Somehow that just doesn't seem fair!

                      • Thats crazy! Good for him!I went from Boca to Boynton and back. However when I was in front of the Boynton inlet I did lose a sea witch strip bait combo on the planer. Planer tripped and 2 seconds later when I was reeling it in the line went slack. I would like think that was a wahoo that I missed.

                          • All the fish you could want littering the beaches up around Vero. Just wear a mask and go pick em up. According to the news yesterday, the beach cleanup contractor is dumping between 5 and 15 thousand pounds of dead fish per day. Not sure I believe those numbers unless they are counting the amount of sand they are scraping up with the carcasses. But it's a real shame, for sure.
